Taiwan Day 10: 6 JUNE 2011 (九份)

Sunny Day! ^^

We woke up in the early morning and get prepared to go out. Actually we planned to YangMingShan for today trip. But, we change our plan to JiuFen (九份)... :)

We took public bus to Taipei Main Station and buy train ticket to RuiFang Train Terminal. We took around 1 hour to reach the terminal. Then, we walked to the nearer bus station and went up to the hill and reach our destination which name JiuFen Old street (九份老街).

Here is some description of JiuFen::

JiuFen is a gold mine and major coal production area in Taiwan. Jiufen has changed itself from a small mountain town to a popular tourist spot because the movie “City of Sadness” was filmed there. It is made up of narrow alleys and stone stairs, flanked by red traditional lanterns, refined tea houses and small traditional restaurants.

Finally, here we reached!!! *HAPPY*

From the beginning of the street, we can see many shops are selling different type of local foods.

Here come two questions...So, which is nice? What is the famous foods here?

We took out the tour guide book and brochure again, which really help us a lot!!! I LOVE MY BOOK! =)

*this is the first food shop we visited at JiuFen Old Street*

This shop is famous of this kind of food name 紅糟素肉圓. Hongzao (Oxo Cubes) Meatball is another popular local snack in Jiufen. The stuffed meatball is made with pork salted with Hongzao. It is steamed with fresh bamboo shoot threads. The meatball looks so clear and full. We tried and it really tastes nice! ^^

*this is how it look like*

We continued to walk along the street which bordered by stalls and discover some special foods and we ate non stop! :D

Next, we went to the 'studio' and keep snapped pictures together with the costumes here! The important is it's cheap, only NT20 for student and NT25 for adult you can try up to 200 of costumes. The 'studio' is name as 秘密基地. A lot of celebrities came here before. =D

Lots of local snacks are available, such as Glutinous Rice Cake, Taro Glutinous Rice Cake, Hongzao (Oxo Cubes) Meatball, and cold or hot Taro Rice Balls. The street is filled with delicious snacks. Jiufen Taro Rice Ball has become a symbol of Jiufen local snack.

We have tried two famous Taro Rice Balls stalls and it tastes almost the same. DELICIOUS!

We leaved there around 4.30pm. We missed out the beauty of sunset there. Because we rush back to prepare our teaching materials for tomorrow.

--end with a tired body and mind--
